Created in 1968 through a partnership of Temple University, the Philadelphia School District, and Settlement Music School, the Community Music Scholars Program (CMSP) seeks to support school music programs by providing individual instrumental instruction and other activities for students and families living in Philadelphia with limited financial means.

In addition to individual lessons and music theory classes, students can participate in large performing ensemble experience in strings, winds and jazz. Piano, guitar and voice instruction are not offered. For more detailed information click the tiles below.

All groups and lessons meet on Saturday mornings, September - May.

Admission to the Upper Division of the CMSP requires an audition and acceptance. Application and audition is free!
