Garth Newel Music Center is holding a composition competition for new works for piano quartet, with a cash prize. The winning work will be performed at the 2024 Summer Music Festival, and a travel stipend of up to $1000 will be provided. Guidelines require that the piece is originally conceived as a piano quartet, and the submitted works must be for violin, viola, cello, and piano. Restrictions include that the work cannot require live electronics, must not have already received a professional premiere, nor be a transcription/arrangement or have been professionally recorded or published. Deadlines for all material is to be received by November 1, 2023. There are also opportunities for the composer to collaborate and network with talented musicians during a short-term residency, and a chance for additional chamber works to be performed.
