Each artist is housed in a private residence with a detached studio and provided with a $500 stipend, a kitchen stocked with basic foods, a few home-cooked meals from local hosts, and a quiet setting along the shores of Lake Michigan.
MAXMachina 2023 Lab - Media Art Xploration | January 15th Media Art Xploration (MAX) invites storytellers, performers, and creative technologists to submit applications for projects that expand live performance through science and technology. Support includes funding up to $7500 and a 7 month project development period, which includes a workshop and final festival presentation.
Media Arts Assistance Fund for Artists - Wave Farm | January 15th For individual New York-based artists, MAAF provides grants of up to $7,500 for the completion and/or public presentation of new works in all genres of sound and moving image art, including emergent technology.
High School Composition Competition - Susquehanna University | January 20th Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Maryland high school students currently in grades 9-12 are invited to enter a composition competition hosted by the Department of Music at Susquehanna University. The composer of the winning piece will receive a $1,000 prize and an invitation to the premier of their work at Susquehanna University in the spring of 2023 (March/April). Works must be for two to seven performers and three to 10 minutes in duration. Instrumentation is flexible, although standard classical instruments are preferred. For example, a work for two singers, piano, flute, violin and percussion would be preferred over a work for four electric guitars and organ, although that work would still be eligible. Submissions must be made electronically and should include both a notated score (PDF) and a recording (mp3). The recording may be computer-generated or from a live performance or reading session. Submissions will be evaluated based on musical quality, originality and appropriateness for performance by undergraduate music majors (student chamber ensemble).
Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring oboist Ava Wirth - Music Avatar | January 31st Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for Ava Wirth. For this Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, we are looking for oboe solos specifically written for Ava Wirth. Selected works will be premiered on Saturday May 6, 2023 on Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring Ava Wirth. This performance will be presented as a live streaming online concert and broadcasted to multiple streaming platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. Guidelines: - Works are for oboe solo only. - No works over one minute (60 seconds) will be reviewed. - Works should be composed specifically for this call and performer. - All pieces must be premieres. - Multiple submissions are not accepted. - Works need to be submitted online at www.MusicAvatar.org - You will need to register with Music Avatar for free to submit your work online. - Must include the dedication to Ava Wirth on the score. - Performance notes should be included in the score.
